Part of being innovative means not being afraid of making mistakes!

Do you feel proud while looking at the world around you? Would you be comfortable to talk about the state of the planet if you were to meet an alien the next day? When it comes to considering about hypothetical existence of extra-terrestrial intelligent being(s), many would like you to be fearful of them, be concerned with the security of our species. But have you ever considered the possibility that if we were to meet such extra-terrestrial intelligence, they might ridicule us for being so naive about the way things are done over here?

It is important to recognize that the problems around us will not be solved by doing the same things that have been done before - even if you do them more efficiently. Only efficiency will not solve the problems. We, as a new generation, will have to do things differently. In doing so, we may make mistakes. That is not a problem, what is important is whether we are looking for new ways of doing things. When we try out new approaches, we can't be afraid of making mistakes. In a way, making mistakes is a good thing!

Also important is  whether we learn from the mistakes and improve upon them when we try those solutions next time. Given the big mess that we are in, we might not have the luxury of time - we have to learn fast i.e. we can't make the mistakes twice. Which led us to this:
"If you are not making mistakes, you aren't doing it right. If you are making the same mistake twice, you aren't doing it right either."
